Delete your MatchUp account

You can delete your MatchUp account and personal data at any time. This page explains exactly what is deleted, what is kept, and how to ask for deletion if you no longer have the app installed.

Deleting from inside the app

This is the fastest route, and it is the one to use if you can still sign in.

  1. Open MatchUp and go to Settings.
  2. Tap Delete Account.
  3. Confirm with your password.

Your account is then scheduled for deletion after a 30-day grace period. You can sign in and cancel at any point during those 30 days. After that, the deletion runs and cannot be undone.

Requesting deletion without the app

If you have uninstalled MatchUp or cannot sign in, enter the email address on your account. We'll send you a link to confirm — nothing is deleted until you open it.

What is permanently deleted

  • Your name, username, email address and phone number
  • Your password
  • Your profile photo, including the stored image file
  • The content of your direct and group messages
  • Your location history and any match GPS records
  • Your friends, friend requests and notifications
  • Your app settings, device tokens and sign-in codes

What is kept, and why

A completed match is a shared record between two players. Deleting yours would rewrite your opponents' match history and change ratings and standings they earned, so those records stay — with your identity removed and replaced by “Deleted player”:

  • Completed match results and scores
  • Ratings, rating history and tournament standings
  • Tournament and event registrations, with your contact details removed
  • Payment records, where we are required to keep them for tax and accounting
  • Records of consent you gave, which exist to prove that consent was asked for and given

None of these can be traced back to you once your account is deleted.

When deletion is delayed or needs a further step

  • Players under 18 — a parent or guardian confirms the deletion before anything is erased.
  • An unresolved match dispute — we finish the dispute first, so the other player is not left without evidence.
  • A payment still being verified — we settle or refund it first.
  • A tournament you are still competing in — deletion waits until it finishes, so the bracket is not broken for everyone else. You do not need to ask again; it runs automatically afterwards.
