Pick a sport and format, and MatchUp hands you a QR code and a six-character room code. No account hunting, no friend requests — just both of you in the same room and ready to play.

02 — Scoring & Spectating
Score by the rules of your sport.
MatchUp knows what a legal score looks like in each sport — pickleball's side-outs, tennis deuce, badminton's win-by-two and 30-point cap — so an 11-10 pickleball game or a 21-20 badminton game can't be saved. Then results reach spectators as they come in.

An honest skill rating that tells the truth, tiers to climb, and XP that only ever goes up. Win or lose, every match moves something — so progress feels earned, not handed out.

- You start at a rating of 1200. For your first 10 matches, your rating is provisional, which just means MatchUp is still learning your real level. Beat stronger players and you'll climb faster.
- Skill tiers
- Rookie to Immortal — visible tiers that move with your rating, so progress feels like ranking up.
- XP that never drops
- Win or lose, every match earns XP. Your rating reflects how you play now; your XP remembers it all.
- A rating per sport
- Each sport keeps its own rating under one profile. No single number flattens four games.
